Flossie's Glorified Rice

1 pkg. long, medium or fine rice (cook slowly according to directions)
1 can crushed pineapple
1/2 cup sugar
cherry juice from 2 jars of maraschino cherries

Let sit( soak) and cool. Then add large container of cool whip and cut up cherries. Chill & Serve
